Contixo F35: Fact-Checking the Claims and Exposing the Cons

Updated on October 9, 2024

Let’s check out the controversial Contixo F35 drone! What is the truth behind it? Is it really a worth-to-buy drone? Or could it be a rebranded tech?

This drone review will feature its camera quality, structure, design, flight performance, pros & cons, and usage.

We aim to provide all product information to help you decide if it perfectly suits your preferences.

Quick Glance

The Contixo F35 is a drone with many similiraties with SJRC F11S and Ruko F11 GIM2 but at a more affordable price!

This drone weighs 584 grams, has LED lights on each rotors, foldable propeller arms, and is available in black design.

In this purchase, the Contixo F21 comes with a battery, a carrying case, four extra propellers, a user manual, a screwdriver, a remote controller, and a 128GB SD card!

The camera on this drone records in 4k@30fps video resolution coupled with 3840×160 pixel photo resolution and a 2-axis gimbal supports it.

Altitude Hold, Follow Me, Orbit Mode, Gesture Control, Point of Interest, 5x digital zoom, and Return-to-Home are present on this drone!

Its GPS-assisted Return-to-Home feature has three ways to activate: One-key Return-to-Home, Low-power Return, and Signal Loss Return.

However, it doesn’t have any Obstacle Avoidance Sensors making it a little challenging for beginners and kids to fly.

Contixo F35 Rating

These are the results of our personal tests & challenges given to the drone with the consideration to its camera, flight performance, structure, design, and price range. Contixo F35 got an impressive overall rating of 91%.

Structure and Design

The Contixo F35 is designed to look more like a DJI Mavic especially when its folded. Surprisingly, it also looks the same with SJRC F11S and Ruko F11 GIM2.

These drones are almost the exact replica that you can even use the battery of Ruko and SJRC to power up the Contixo F35 and vice versa (which I don’t really recommend for the safety of the drones).

At this point, which one should I buy? Or do I even buy it? Well, SJRC and Ruko sell this drone in Amazon at $399.99 while Contixo sell this at $299.99 (I’ll let you decide which one you prefer).

This drone weighs 20.6 ounces or 584 grams with dimensions of ‎7″L x 4.1″W x 3.1″H inches. It is equipped with brushless motors and foldable propeller arms.

Since this drone surpasses the weight regulation for small UAVs implemented by the FAA, registration is needed. Learn how to register your drone in accordance with the FAA guidelines.

It has built-in LED lights on each rotor arms that automatically turn on during flights. These lights are also indicators for a fully calibrated drone compass when it flashes a specific pattern.

This purchase comes with a battery, a carrying case, four extra propellers, a user manual, a screwdriver, a remote controller, and a 128GB SD card!

Remote Controller

The remote controller of Contixo F35 has an LCD screen where you can see the drone flying details for safer and more accurate flights.

It has extendable arms at the bottom and a nice size comparable to a PlayStation 4 handle.

The joysticks are pretty decent to move and it has these easy-to-navigate buttons (these buttons are all labeled with easy-to-understand symbols).

It also has these two foldable antennas that use 2.4 GHz ISM radio waves to communicate on the drone. This simply means a reliable and accessible communication channel.

Furthermore, it is built with an extendable & portable phone holder located in the top-middle section of the remote controller.

Camera and Video Quality

Here comes the camera of the Contixo F35 and honestly, it’s not as great as they advertised at 4k Ultra-High Definition.

Although, it is remarkably better than its “sibling” Contixo F21 since it is supported by a 2-axis gimbal which is not present in the previous drone model.

The video capture resolution is advertised as working in 4k@30fps (pretty smooth but there are little lags) with 3840x160p@30fps when saved in SD card while 1280x720p in the App.

The camera lens gives a 100° FOV for a broader aerial view. The 2-axis gimbal can be tilted between -35° – +35° and can be adjusted to an angle between -80°- +0

Its photo resolution is quite nice at 3840x2160p quality in a JPEG format, plus it has a 5x digital zoom technology to see further distances while flying.

You can enjoy features such as Follow Me, Waypoint, Orbit Mode, Point of Interest/Tap to Fly, and Gesture Control.

Speaking of its Gesture Control feature, you can control it through making a “YEAH/Peace Sign” gesture to take a photo and making a “Palm” gesture to record videos.

However, one thing that is “off-putting” for me is that you can see the propellers at the top portion of the video when you turn it sideways.

This sadly seals its capability of NOT being used in professional photography and filming.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s certainly a decent camera drone but there are better ones with almost the same price point like the DJI Mini 2 SE.

Flight Performance

This purchase comes with a rechargeable 2500 mAh battery that provides up to 30 minutes of flight time as advertised but it’s mainly around 20-25 minutes.

Remember: The temperature and winds play a great role in its flight time, the colder and windier your location, the lower flight time it’ll offer which is understandable.

The Contixo F35 has a control range of up to 1500 meters and has GPS-assisted flight features mainly for safety when flying farther distances.

However, I highly recommend it to always fly within the 500-meter range since you always want to keep it in your Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) per drone regulation.

Make sure to download the Contixo F35 app available in the Playstore and Apple App Store to fully maximize the drone flying experience it provides.

This drone flies pretty smoothly in Level 5 Winds and its Optical Flow Positioning works really well.

Additionally, it has Geo-fencing feature that are also present in most DJI drones. This prevents it from flying towards some restricted airspaces.

It also has a GPS-assisted Return-to-Home feature: One-Key return, Low-power Return, and Signal Loss Return.

Just always make sure that there are no obstacles like trees or high buildings when you press Auto-Return because it doesn’t have Obstacle Avoidance Sensors.

Usage of this Drone

All things considered, I can say it has a pretty smooth camera quality (but not as great as you can get on DJI drones), a nice and portable structure, and amazing flight performance.

Well, you can certainly use it for various recreational activities, including aerial photography, videography, and exploration.

It’s also perfect for sightseeing, hobby flying, content creation, and many more!

Its beginner-friendly features and portable structure make it a decent drone, though not great enough to be considered one of the best drones for photography and filming.

Conclusion

This review of the Contixo F35 drone clearly shows that its camera quality is decent, though not great enough to be considered one of the best drones for photography and filming available today!

The drone’s camera works decently with its advertised 4k@30fps, but we all know its not that on par with DJI camera quality or just a filming quality at all.

Although it is remarkably better than its “sibling” Contixo F21 since it is supported by a 2-axis gimbal for a more stable camera content.

Its structure, design, and flight performance are quite amazing! It is very easy to pack, unfold, control, and it also gives impressive flight duration.

However, the lack of Obstacle Avoidance makes this drone a little challenging for beginners and kids.

Overall, the Contixo F35 is undeniably decent drone but still has a long way to go and be considered on par with drones like DJI Mini 2 SE and Potensic ATOM SE.
